sexual abuse of a minor. he oversaw a dorm full of young girls. the maryland school of the deaf provides a free education for people with hearing impairments. some of the students lived there in the dorms at times. it was one of those dorms that a man abused them. >> we've arrested and charged a man who was working as a school aide with touching girls over the course of years. fortunately, one of the girls came forward when she realized she was not ot only victim. >> three young girls said they were groped and fondled by clarence taylor. they were 107 and 13 at the time. he was responsible for watching the girls. the accusers say he would fondle

them, sneak up on them and kiss them. one girl in her mid-teens came forward now after finding out that other girls had been molested allegedly by taylor. >> he's been charged with sexual abus of a minor three counts. we are hopeful that pel will come forward and tell us their story. >> reporter: the maryland school for the deaf said this is an on going investigation being handled by howard county police. taylor remains in custody tonight in howard county. roosevelt leftwich, abc2 news. a man is charged with sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl. he is charged with a second and third degree sex offense.

the victim reported that she had -- that grim had ca rested her and touched her. grim was helping with the remodeling and had a sleepover at the home the girl was also staying. a 62-year-old man is dead and two firefighters injured after an early morning house fire in jacksonville. >> it was a two alarm fire and brian kuebler is here with some powerful pictures on those deadly flames. >> reporter: a neighbor three doors down sent us this dramatic picture. 62-year-old william spencer died as the two-alarm fire enveloped the home. the fire required at least 80 firefighters and 20 pieces of equipment from both baltimore and harford county. it took about two hours to get it all under control and in the

process two firefighter the suffered minor injuries. >> did an initial search of the first and second floor. then the fire became so intense, they were required to evacuate the building. >> the baltimore county fire department says the cause of this fire is still under investigation, brian kuebler, abc2 news. >> tonight we have learned that a man rescued from a burning home in dundalk has died. investigators said 87-year-old ernest lewis, sr. died from carbon monoxide poisoning. joppa road, another car crash. another person has died. it happened in towson. the driver hit a utility pole. his car overturned on east joppa right near prince road. it happened around 8:00. the man died at scene. the cause of this crash is still under investigation.

now here's an update on the breaking news we told you last night at 5:00. brian dargan, who had been arrested on burglary charges, was at st. joseph's medical center and he was handcuffed to a gurney. a needle was noticed in his car. he grabbed her arm and they wrestled. he reached for the officer's gun. the gunfired and the officer was grazed in the leg. >> down in the 30s already. westminster 36, are a but tules -- arbutus 38. so cold numbers. a little built of a breeze,

women who have lumpectomies may not need as much radiation as previous thought. it row moves the tumor. patients then receive radiation for five weeks. a new study says shorter term treatment may be just has good. scientists followed almost 4500 women for 10 years. those who received three weeks of radiation in slightly bigger dose had the same amount of

cancer relapse in the breast. timing is everything when it comes to treating late stage breast cancer. as health report are linda so tells us, delaying treatment, even a couple of months, could put thousands of women at risk. >> reporter: she makes cards ofen crnlgment for others. she feels fortunate for the decision she made. >> you can't worry about oh, what if this, what is that. >> reporter: jean was treated for breast cancer two weeks after being diagnosed. a new study shows how treatment prompt treatment can be. >> women waited 60 days or longer to start their breast cancer treatment. they had worse outcomes, meaning a higher chance of dying. >> reporter: in the later stages waiting too long for treatment increased a woman's risk of

dying a stearing 58%. those treated earlier had in increased risk. ohio's comprehensive cancer study followed 2,000 women over three years. she said whether this was where a woman lived, how much she earned, should ab factor in future cases. >> women with the most advanced cancer. so that is another lesson. that if you have an advanced cancer, you ned to start your treatment soon. >> reporter: it's a message jean believes in. >> my other grandchildren and i know it because i did quick treatment. >> reporter: linda so, abc2 news. >> doctors say even if they're diagnosed in later stages, most women have time it consider their options and even getting a

what a gorgeous looking sunset. at towson conditions here, just some of that high thin cloud cover, filtered sunshine it finish out the day. temperatures are cold, shivering, upper 30s in central maryland. most spots are chilly in the mid-and upper 30s, just a light breeze, light and variable wind, nothing really over the top in terms of wind chill feeling like the mid-30s in most spots. how about weather into the day tomorrow. across most of central maryland you can see numbers like these. there will be some scattered showers in the mix, too. another chilly day on tap before the big change starts and the roller coaster starts heading the other way. for now we'll stay dry, chilly but dry. the active weather looks to be fairly quiet and mainly to our west. some showers over the ohio

hospital. the royal mother to be is suffering from a rare morning sickness. as t.j. winick tells us, while kate is improving, she may face more difficulty ahead. >> reporter: after three days and three night in -- nights in the hospital, the duchess of cambridge finally departed from the london facility with william waving and smiling to well wishers. william and kate issued a statement thanking the staff for the treatment the duchess received. kate, less than three weeks pregnant, will trito recuperate at home. the most difficult cases, some mores face symptoms throughout the pregnant sigh often times we see people coming back again and again. >> reporter: today the first public comments from presence charles about the pregnancy. >> nice to be a grandfather.

an aide at the school for the deaf is charged with three counts of sexual abuse of a minor. police are trying to determine if there are more victims.
